COMPETITIVE TEAM INFORMATION

What It’s Like to Be on a Competitive Gymnastics Team

Being on a competitive gymnastics team is an exciting adventure! It’s all about working hard, having fun, and growing together as athletes and teammates.

  • More Practice, More Progress: Team gymnasts practice several times a week to learn new skills, get stronger, and polish their routines. It’s focused training—but we still keep it fun!

  • Teammates Turned Friends: Even though gymnastics is an individual sport, being part of a team means cheering each other on, celebrating milestones, and building friendships that last.

  • Competing with Confidence: Throughout the season, gymnasts get to travel to competitions, show off their routines, and experience the thrill of performing in front of judges and a crowd.

  • Learning Commitment: Being on the team means showing up, trying your best, and staying positive—even on the tough days. It helps build confidence, discipline, and a great work ethic.

  • So Much Fun: From team spirit days to silly warm-ups, there’s always room for laughter, high-fives, and proud moments. It’s about growing as a gymnast—and having a blast along the way!

We can’t wait to see everyone at tryouts and are so excited to welcome new faces to our team!

Team Gymnastics is Year-Round, but There's Room for More

Joining the competitive team is a year-long commitment that runs through the full season. This gives gymnasts the time they need to build skills, set goals, and improve over time.

That said, we know how important balance is! Our gymnasts still have time for school, family, and other fun activities outside the gym. With good time management and support, many of our athletes successfully juggle gymnastics with academics, social events, and more.

Understanding the Costs of Competitive Gymnastics at Panhandle Perfection Gymnastics

At Panhandle Perfection Gymnastics, we believe in being open and honest about what it means—both in time and cost—to be part of our competitive team. We understand that gymnastics can be a significant commitment, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

After tryouts, you’ll receive an email with details about your child’s team placement, practice schedule, and estimated monthly costs. In the meantime, here’s a general overview to help you understand how team life works.

Team Commitment & Billing

Joining the competitive team is a year-round commitment. Unlike recreational classes, the team doesn’t follow seasonal sessions—it’s ongoing, with monthly billing through Panhandle Perfection Gymnastics. This structure allows athletes to grow and progress throughout the year at a steady pace.

Practice Schedules

Below is a general look at practice expectations for our girls’, boys’, and trampoline & tumbling (T&T) teams. Specific times and costs will be shared with you after tryouts, based on your child’s placement and facility at which they will train.

Competition Costs & What to Expect

We work hard to keep competition expenses manageable and more affordable than many other clubs, while still offering a high-quality experience. That said, team gymnastics does involve costs related to uniforms, competition entry fees, and association memberships.

Here’s a breakdown of what families paid during the previous season (just to give you an idea—next season's rates likely will vary):

  • Competition Attire

    • Girls: $365 — includes competition leotard, practice leotard, warm-ups, and a team backpack.

    • Boys: $245 — includes singlet, pants, shorts, and a team backpack.

  • Association Fees

    • Our athletes compete in either National Gymnastics Association (NGA) or USA Gymnastics (USAG) events.

    • Current fees: $50 for NGA (covered for our girls’ and boys’ teams), and $75 for USAG (required for T&T and paid by families directly).

  • Meet Fees

    • Girls: Typically attend 5 meets from January–May across Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana, plus state and regional championships. This season’s cost: $1,525, paid in 5 installments for eight meets.

    • Boys Level 1–3: Attend 4 meets plus state and regional championships. Last season’s cost: $900 in 5 installments.

    • Upper-Level Boys: Additional meets may be added, with additional cost.

    • T&T Athletes: Compete in 2–3 meets plus state and regionals. Each meet typically costs $100–$150.

Gymnastics is a more specialized sport, so unlike recreational soccer or basketball, local competitions are less common. This means we do a bit of travel to attend meets—but it also gives our athletes the exciting opportunity to compete in new places and experience different environments.

Competitions are generally short commitments—about 3 hours on a weekend day—and usually require less time than other sports like travel softball or soccer.
