Competition expenses are amongst the biggest challenges of team gymnastics. We aim to keep competition expenses low (we are definitely less expensive than other clubs), however, there is still significant expense to team gymnastics. The following is an outline of team expenses from the previous season.
Competition attire — Our current year's costs for girl's competition attire was $285. a competition leo, a practice leo, warm-ups and a backpack. For boys, the cost was $185 and it includes a singlet, pants, shorts and backpack.
We are unable to give you accurate costs for next season as we aren't certain of how much costs will rise. We will work to keep the costs as close to what they were previously as possible.
Association fees — Our teams compete in National Gymnastics' Association (NGA) or USA Gymnastics (USAG) sanctioned competition. These associations have costs. Currently, those fees for NGA are $50 and for USAG are $75. We include the NGA costs in annual competition fees and will cover our boys' and girls' competitors. Anyone competing in Trampoline and Tumbling will need to pay for the USAG fee on their own.
Meet fees — Girls typically compete in five meets throughout Florida, Georgia and Louisiana, plus the state and regional meet from January-May. This season, those costs were $1,450 spread over five installments. Meets take roughly 3 hours over the course of a weekend and your requirement to be at a competition is much smaller than that of travel softball or soccer.
Boys’ Level 1-3 will compete in 4 meets plus the state and regional meet throughout Florida, Georgia and Louisiana. This season, those costs were $900 spread over five installments. Upper level boys have additional costs.
T&T athletes compete in meets as available, usually 2-3 per season, plus state and regionals and those are usually $100-$150 each.
